FTI Consulting Appoints Kathryn McCarthy to Its Technology Practice
West Palm Beach, Fla., May 21, 2013 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the appointment of Kathryn McCarthy as Senior Managing Director in the firm’s Technology practice. Based in Washington, D.C., McCarthy will help lead the Acuity™ managed review offering. In this role, she will work with clients to develop and implement cost-effective managed review services that include software, review attorneys and workflow.
The addition of McCarthy, a noted expert in Second Request antitrust investigations and e-discovery process, will further strengthen the company’s antitrust capabilities. She brings to FTI Technology more than 18 years of experience in the legal industry with a special focus on antitrust investigations and e-discovery processes. Over the course of her career, she has managed e-discovery responses for over 40 Second Requests and is an expert in optimizing e-discovery software, workflow and legal professionals to ensure excellence in delivery for legal clients.
In addition to her antitrust and e-discovery process expertise, McCarthy regularly manages and advises on issues relating to international data privacy issues. She has led global e-discovery investigations in response to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters, requiring an in-depth understanding of data privacy laws and practical knowledge for coordinating the appropriate technology, staff and budget to be in compliance with those laws.

Prior to joining FTI Technology, McCarthy held the position of Counsel for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. In that role, she routinely negotiated and implemented electronic discovery protocols with both governmental agencies and private parties. She has supervised all aspects of the e-discovery process on behalf of clients, from legal holds and data retrieval to the management and monitoring of the productivity and accuracy of review attorneys. McCarthy earned a B.A. in economics from Villanova University and a law degree, cum laude, from Albany Law School, where she was an editor of its Law Review. She is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of New York and Washington, D.C. She speaks regularly on various topics related to antitrust and e-discovery.
